What's happening in the LMC?
Welcome back to a new school year! The school is buzzing with excitement!
During the next few weeks, new students will be introduced and returning students will be reacquainted with the library and procedures.
Students in grades 1 and 2 visit the Library Media Center (LMC) with their classes and participate in a weekly "special" where they will participate in a library lesson and have a chance to check out books.
Students in grades 3 through 5 will be able to visit the LMC on their assigned library day during their recess time or throughout the day with their teacher permission to select books to check out. In the coming weeks, students will participate in a library orientation sessions where they will review procedures for check out and return of books.
Students who visit the library during recess may stop in to select a book, check out, and return to recess or they may spend the entire recess in a quiet space on their library day. There may be no more than 6 students from each homeroom in the LMC during a given recess period.
Students who visit the library throughout the day will complete the blue self check out slip and leave the selected book in the basket to be checked out when Mrs. Tom is available. Students may return before dismissal to retrieve the book from the designated cart. The checked out book will have the blue slip taped to the book.
